  • Who’s the golden user?

  • Why the app is not picking up?

  • Why the user are losing interest?

  • Why there is a high bounce rate?

Solution

A new re-designed app with:-

  • Reduced on-boarding process

  • An engaging feed structure homepage

  • Focus on content consumption rather than creation

Success Metrics 🥳

  • Improved onboarding improved user retention by 20%

  • The new app design increased engagement & session length from 1 min to 12 mins.

How I started

~ Milllenial User

“It’s easier to commit yourself to 10 minutes videos rather than 45 minutes.”

Understanding User

User Frustations

Millennials
(Ages of 28 and 43)

Target Audience

  • Aimee (26 years old) is sales operations manager. She is a busy professional trying to utilize downtime to learn work-related stuff through apps.

  • She’s very health conscious. She prefers to spend her time very productively.

  • She is a mobile user who loves picking up skills in her daily life or work.

Frustrated & Busy

She is career transitioning - no time to learn new stuff. She is swamped, so she doesn’t like to waste time.

Designing for unavoidable interruptions

She can look at mobile sites or apps while standing in line to a concert, or be distracted by something else while on your mobile site, like when their phone rings.

Tech-Savvy

She uses mobile devices to listen to audio
(50 mins/day), social networking
(40 mins/day), mobile video, gaming, and messaging.

User Behaviors

Teenagers tend to be poor readers, and they prefer non-text alternatives like multimedia content.

What do people need?

  • Curated Platform

    Relevant, quick information

  • A Community

Snack is a community that helps users share what they are good at or learn something they are interested in with short videos in their palm.

  • Downtime Info-tainment

Utilize fragmented time to learn something

Homepage

The infinite scroll structure of the homepage is very engaging.
